The fact is that the telephone is still the most powerful weapon in your marketing arsenal. Inboxes are cluttered with spam, making email marketing essentially worthless. People don't read anything that they consider to be junk mail, which is usually round-filed by the secretary anyway. Decision makers don't go to trade shows. And when you're networking - either in person or online - the vast majority of people you meet want to sell you something, not buy from you; so why bother?.
And while we agree that people who don't know about you aren't going to call, advertising is spectacularly expensive, and entails an enormous amount of waste. And even then, it can't get someone to consider your solution if they don't know they have a problem. So do you really think it's worth it?
But the telephone is still there, whether it's on his desk, or in his pocket. And because so many people dislike, or can't do, teleprospecting effectively, they've essentially left the entire field open for you.
And don't believe what you hear about it not working.
